Glagolitic (Glagoljica) is the oldest known Slavic alphabet. It was created around 863 by Saint Constantine-Cyril, who with his brother Methodius translated liturgical texts into Old Church Slavonic.
While other Slavic regions switched to Cyrillic or Latin, Croatia kept using Glagolitic for more than a thousand years and developed its distinctive angular form. The Baška Tablet, missals, breviaries and legal texts such as the Law Codex of Vinodol were written in it, and today it is a symbol of Croatian cultural heritage.

How are LJ, NJ, DŽ, Đ and Ć written?
LJ, NJ and DŽ are written as two letters (L+J, N+J, D+Ž). Đ uses djerv (Ⰼ) and Ć uses shta (Ⱋ). Q, X, W and Y have no letter of their own and are written as KV, KS, V and I.
What is the difference between round and angular Glagolitic?
Round Glagolitic is the older form from the 9th to 11th centuries. Angular Glagolitic developed in Croatia and dominated later manuscripts and printed books. The Unicode text is the same; only the font changes.

Yes, the SVG preview lets you download vector artwork. Because different readings are possible, have the text checked by an expert before tattooing.
Does the translator work offline?
Yes. After the first visit it works offline and can be installed as an app. Text and photos are never sent to a server.
